All aboard the game train! If it is still unclear, this blog is about gaming. It will be filled with posts that surround the world of gaming. I will be writing game reviews and occasional features like "Top 10 Lists" and "Guilty Pleasures." In addition, occasional posts regarding tabletop games will be published.
Although this blog is for a school project, I am looking forward to continually developing this site. I was introduced to gaming since a young age. My family owned the Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, and even Philip's CD-I. The oldest memory I can remember is playing Mortal Kombat 3 on the Genesis when I was a toddler. From that moment, my passion for gaming expanded throughout the years.
Some time in middle school, I experienced a revelation: I want to become a games journalist. I think the revelation sparked when I started listening to podcasts. I would like to think that my future career decision was brought by listening to podcasts like Rebel FM, Gamers with Jobs, and IGN GameScoop! And for an English project in 8th grade, I had to interview someone from a profession we were interested in. I was fortunate enough to sit down face-to-face with a games journalist working for a local newspaper. I was so captivated that from that moment on, I knew I wanted to pursue a vocation of games journalism.
While I may do game reviews from time-to-time, they will not be as updated as many legitimate sites. I am quite busy as a high school student and I will typically not get games as soon as they come out. However, as this blog grows, I will be looking forward to bringing more up-to-date reviews and news posts.
I am looking forward to developing this blog past what my class requires of me. I hope that this will be a sort of "training ground" to practice my games journalism writing as many say that practicing writing is the best way to prepare. I hope to utilize this blog past high school and hopefully develop a small portfolio of writings featured on this site for future internships or writing positions. The road ahead of me is long, but with this blog, I hope it will be an exciting one.
Personally, this topic interests me for how you and the public see old school games compared to the newer games. Will there be a bias? Maybe you like strategy better than shooter? Well, maybe a difference between two games being produced in different countries. I'm interested to see how your reviews will be as a whole when praising or criticizing two completely different things.
ReplyDeleteI remember the very first game I ever played to. I had the luck to have a Sega Genesis in my house hold as well. However I played Sonic, a lot. Do you read the game informers magazine? It has a lot of really good videogame reviews and I read it every month.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite game is MarioBros., Sims, SuperMonkey Ball and Angry Birds. But my absolute favorite game is DinerDash.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I enjoy gaming a lot. RPGs, board games, card games, you name it, I've played it. I mostly enjoy role playing games because it allows your imagination to fill in each corner, and it allows you to do what ever you want.
ReplyDeleteI never even knew there was such a thing called game journalism. Haha, your blog topic sounds very interesting. I'm not a gamer myself, but I would love to see more of your posts!
ReplyDeleteI miss the old school games from Atari like Paperboy, will you be reviewing older games too? -Angelica P.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeletePlease don't review first person shooters, they are so generic and overdone.
Thanks!
I did not realize how many people are doing game blogs. What are you going to do to make your's unique and different?
ReplyDeleteI remembered that I played some old school games since i was five years old. The game was called a pac man and its kind of irritating game and I always lose.
